r11811: Revert 11808, this broke the selftest. No idea why though. Why do we to the
resolve_name if it's not used? I know this is my code, but I don't understand why it breaks tests. Volker (This used to be commit 577a5639d3fc008480e988864bb4fb59939bc2d8)
