added code from Philip A Prindeville <philipp@enteka.com> which expands
the interfaces option to this:
"interfaces = le0 le1" or "interfaces = all".
it uses SIOCGIFxxxx ioctl calls.
(This used to be commit 39071415ba6f8a00e2909e443261d0059fe27e82)
