2009-09-15s3: BSD needs sys/sysctl.h included to build properlyBjörn Jacke1-0/+5
FreeBSD (and other BSDs, too) need sys/sysctl.h inclueded to use sysctlbyname(). Thanks to Timur Bakeyev for that.

2009-02-24s3: Fix a bug that prevent core files from being createdTim Prouty1-1/+0
Removed an erroneous free() that was causing the corepath to be NULL during dump_core(). This prevented dump_core() from actually calling abort() to create a core file. The bug was introduced in December by: 07e0094365e8dc360a83eec2e7cf9b1d5d8d6d00
2009-01-15s3: make better use of ccache by not including version.h in every C-file.Michael Adam1-1/+1
version.h changes rather frequently. Since it is included via includes.h, this means each C file will be a cache miss. This applies to the following situations: * When building a new package with a new Samba version * building in a git branch after calling mkversion.sh after a new commit (i.e. virtually always) This patch improves the situation in the following way: * remove inlude "version.h" from includes.h * Use samba_version_string() instead of SAMBA_VERSION_STRING in files that use no other macro from version.h instead of SAMBA_VERSION_STRING. * explicitly include "version.h" in those files that use more macros from "version.h" than just SAMBA_VERSION_STRING. Michael

2008-01-27We need to leave the corepath aroundVolker Lendecke1-1/+0
In case we need to dump core, in line 191 we dereference corepath to be able to chdir there. Jeremy, please check! Volker (This used to be commit 3959b1954b02405ec174497fa17e345ca6d5ee94)
2007-12-10Remove the char[1024] strings from dynconfig. ReplaceJeremy Allison1-1/+1

2007-11-15More pstring removal. This one was tricky. I had to addJeremy Allison1-8/+21
one horror (pstring_clean_name()) which will have to remain until I've removed all pstrings from the client code. Jeremy. (This used to be commit 1ea3ac80146b83c2522b69e7747c823366a2b47d)

Thx for the hint James! (This used to be commit 72be9766a9b3a860717222a86d636c1dbbf61b12)
2007-10-10r22318: If we're running as non root we might not be able to dump the core fileLars Müller1-0/+7
to the corepath. Even the chdir() will fail if the LOGFILEBASE path is set 0700. If the currrent user doesn't have the permission to create the core file we end with: unable to change to <LOGFILEBASE> refusing to dump core The alternative would be to change the permissions of the directory. But taht would not ensure core dumps are working out of the box. (This used to be commit 0814a3acbe0fe40badf88690ab61d8ad106419d6)
2007-10-10r22107: Fix typo.James Peach1-1/+1

2007-10-10r15631: Add a new option "enable core files". Administrators can use this toJames Peach1-0/+9
disable automatic core file dumping. Core files are enabled by default. (This used to be commit b59189280057849b67ac65f31cec23b859e21c91)
2007-10-10r14898: This change is an attempt to improve the quality of the information thatJames Peach1-2/+95
is produced when a process exits abnormally. First, we coalesce the core dumping code so that we greatly improve our odds of being able to produce a core file, even in the case of a memory fault. I've removed duplicates of dump_core() and split it in two to reduce the amount of work needed to actually do the dump. Second, we refactor the exit_server code path to always log an explanation and a stack trace. My goal is to always produce enough log information for us to be able to explain any server exit, though there is a risk that this could produce too much log information on a flaky network. Finally, smbcontrol has gained a smbd fault injection operation to test the changes above. This is only enabled for developer builds. (This used to be commit 56bc02d64498eb3faf89f0c5452b9299daea8e95)
