2004-02-08Make more functions static, and remove duplication in the use of functionsAndrew Bartlett1-1/+1
in lib/smbpasswd.c that were exact duplicates of functions in passdb/passdb.c (These should perhaps be pulled back out to smbpasswd.c, but that can occour later). Andrew Bartlett (This used to be commit fcdc5efb1e245c8fa95cd031f67ec56093b9056e)
2004-01-08This merges in my 'always use ADS' patch. Tested on a mix of NT and ADSAndrew Bartlett1-2/+11
domains, this patch ensures that we always use the ADS backend when security=ADS, and the remote server is capable. The routines used for this behaviour have been upgraded to modern Samba codeing standards. This is a change in behaviour for mixed mode domains, and if the trusted domain cannot be reached with our current krb5.conf file, we will show that domain as disconnected. This is in line with existing behaviour for native mode domains, and for our primary domain. As a consequence of testing this patch, I found that our kerberos error handling was well below par - we would often throw away useful error values. These changes move more routines to ADS_STATUS to return kerberos errors. Also found when valgrinding the setup, fix a few memory leaks. While sniffing the resultant connections, I noticed we would query our list of trusted domains twice - so I have reworked some of the code to avoid that. Andrew Bartlett (This used to be commit 7c34de8096b86d2869e7177420fe129bd0c7541d)
2004-01-05Change our Domain controller lookup routines to more carefully seperateAndrew Bartlett1-11/+11
DNS names (realms) from NetBIOS domain names. Until now, we would experience delays as we broadcast lookups for DNS names onto the local network segments. Now if DNS comes back negative, we fall straight back to looking up the short name. Andrew Bartlett (This used to be commit 32397c8b01f1dec7b05140d210bb32f836a80ca6)

2003-06-25large change:Gerald Carter1-16/+19
*) consolidates the dc location routines again (dns and netbios) get_dc_list() or get_sorted_dc_list() is the authoritative means of locating DC's again. (also inludes a flag to get_dc_list() to define if this should be a DNS only lookup or not) (however, if you set "name resolve order = hosts wins" you could still get DNS queries for domain name IFF ldap_domain2hostlist() fails. The answer? Fix your DNS setup) *) enabled DOMAIN<0x1c> lookups to be funneled through resolve_hosts resulting in a call to ldap_domain2hostlist() if lp_security() == SEC_ADS *) enables name cache for winbind ADS backend *) enable the negative connection cache for winbind ADS backend *) removes some old dead code *) consolidates some duplicate code *) moves the internal_name_resolve() to use an IP/port pair to deal with SRV RR dns replies. The namecache code also supports the IP:port syntax now as well. *) removes 'ads server' and moves the functionality back into 'password server' (which can support "hostname:port" syntax now but works fine with defaults depending on the value of lp_security()) (This used to be commit d7f7fcda425bef380441509734eca33da943c091)

( this is needed if the DC is upgraded and samba is not reconfigured to use security = ads; it's not pretty but it works (from app_head) ) * fix bug that caused us to enumerate domain local groups in domains other than our own (This used to be commit 14f2cd139a22454571cea8475d3b7c5c2787d378)
2003-06-21merge of the netsamlogon caching code from APPLIANCE_HEADGerald Carter1-52/+105
This replaces the universal group caching code (was originally based on that code). Only applies to the the RPC code. One comment: domain local groups don't show up in 'getent group' that's easy to fix. Code has been tested against 2k domain but doesn't change anything with respect to NT4 domains. netsamlogon caching works pretty much like the universal group caching code did but has had much more testing and puts winbind mostly back in sync between branches. (This used to be commit aac01dc7bc95c20ee21c93f3581e2375d9a894e1)
2003-04-23Merge HEAD's winbind into 3.0.Andrew Bartlett1-65/+85
This includes the 'SIDs Rule' patch, mimir's trusted domains cacheing code, the winbind_idmap abstraction (not idmap proper, but the stuff that held up the winbind LDAP backend in HEAD). Andrew Bartlett (This used to be commit d4d5e6c2ee6383c6cceb5d449aa2ba6c83eb0666)

2002-01-26Back out some of the less well thought out ideas from last weeks work onAndrew Bartlett1-5/+16
winbind default domains, particulary now I understand whats going on a lot better. This ensures that the RPC client code does as little 'magic' as possible - this is up to the application/user. (Where - for to name->sid code - it was all along). This leaves the change that allows the sid->name code to return domains and usernames in seperate paramaters. Andrew Bartlett (This used to be commit 5dfba2cf536f761b0aee314ed9e30dc53900b691)
2002-01-20This patch makes the 'winbind use default domain' code interact better withAndrew Bartlett1-4/+12
smbd, and also makes it much cleaner inside winbindd. It is mostly my code, with a few changes and testing performed by Alexander Bokovoy <a.bokovoy@sam-solutions.net>. ab has tested it in security=domain and security=ads, but more testing is always appricatiated. The idea is that we no longer cart around a 'domain\user' string, we keep them seperate until the last moment - when we push that string into a pwent on onto the socket. This removes the need to be constantly parsing that string - the domain prefix is almost always already provided, (only a couple of functions actually changed arguments in all this). Some consequential changes to the RPC client code, to stop it concatonating the two strings (it now passes them both back as params). I havn't changed the cache code, however the usernames will no longer have a double domain prefix in the key string. The actual structures are unchanged - but the meaning of 'username' in the 'rid' will have changed. (The cache is invalidated at startup, so on-disk formats are not an issue here). Andrew Bartlett (This used to be commit e870f0e727952aeb8599cf93ad2650ae56eca033)
2002-01-12Many thanks to Alexander Bokovoy <a.bokovoy@sam-solutions.net>.Andrew Bartlett1-0/+9
This work was sponsored by Optifacio Software Services, Inc. Andrew Bartlett (various e-mails announcements merged into some form of commit message below:) This patch which adds basics of universal groups support into Samba 3. Currently, only Winbind with RPC calls supports this, ADS support requires additional (possibly huge) work on KRB5 PAC. However, basic infrastructure is here. This patch adds: 1. Storing of universal groups for particular user logged into Samba software (smbd/ two winbind-pam methods) into netlogon_unigrp.tdb as array of uint32 supplemental group rids keyed as DOMAIN_SID/USER_RID in tdb. 2. Fetching of unversal groups for given user rid and domain sid from netlogon_unigrp.tdb. Since this is used in both smbd and winbindd, main code is in source/lib/netlogon_uingrp.c. Dependencies are added to AUTH_OBJ as UNIGRP_OBJ and WINBINDD_OBJ as UNIGRP_OBJ. This patch has had a few versions, the final version in particular: Many thanks to Andrew Bartlett for critics and comments, and partly rewritten code. New: - updated fetching code to changed byte order macros - moved functions to proper namespace - optimized memory usage by reusing caller's memory context - enhanced code to more follow Samba coding rules Todo: - proper universal group expiration after timeout (This used to be commit 80c2aefbe7c1aa363dd286a47d50c5d8b4595f43)
2002-01-10A big tidyup while thinking about getting trusted domains being re-readTim Potter1-4/+4
when they are added or removed on the PDC. - renamed GETPWNAM_FROM_{UID,USER} constants and functions to GETPW{NAM,UID} - renamed GETGRNAM_FROM_{GID,GROUP} constants and functions to GETGR{NAM,GID} - use SIGUSR2 in winbindd for debugging/logging instead of SIGUSR1 in preparation for moving to smbcontrol type messages (not sure whether to ditch this altogether or not) - tidy debugging messages in top level winbind user and group routines - convert talloc_init() to talloc_init_named() - make enumerations of the domain list use the same local variable names (This used to be commit eeb8af9c1a66bfcd80823d7b406acbab79857a16)
2001-12-11removed the start_ndx parameter from group enumerationAndrew Tridgell1-5/+31
I tried testing this by lowering the buffer size in cli_samr_enum_dom_groups() but that didn't work - I think this needs more looking into (This used to be commit 34328e30315e4b42087d0ee11ed0c3fb715bc250)
2001-12-11got rid of start_ndx from query_user_list()Andrew Tridgell1-23/+39
(This used to be commit 1c909afe76566807fb576c965eb869f98e72f2bd)
2001-12-10robustness fixes and moved ccache location into winbindd_ads codeAndrew Tridgell1-0/+8
(This used to be commit 24aa09ff3dd128c6f12b4cb072943ff668a29a67)
2001-12-10winbindd backends can now be marked "consistent" or "inconsistent"Andrew Tridgell1-0/+1
consistent backends (like ADS) always give correct primary group info, so we can play cache tricks to speed things up a lot inconsistent backends (like MSRPC) need to fetch stuff more often (This used to be commit 217c39f23282e20f96a61a0d5a2434b3f5f66a86)
2001-12-10moved the domain sid lookup and enumeration of trusted domains intoAndrew Tridgell1-2/+46
the backends at startup, loop until we get the domain sid for our primary domain, trying every 10 seconds. This makes winbindd handle a room-wide power failure better (This used to be commit 7c60ae59378be1b2af2e57ee3927966a29a797a5)
2001-12-09completely new winbindd cache infrastructureAndrew Tridgell1-5/+9
this one looks like just another winbind backend, and has the following properties: - does -ve and +ve cacheing of all queries - can be disabled with -n switch to winbindd - stores all records packed, so even huge domains are not a problem for a complete cache - handles the server being down - uses sequence numbers for all entries This fixes a lot of problems with winbindd. Serving from cache is now *very* fast. (This used to be commit fddb4f4c04473a60a97212c0c8e143d6a4d68380)
2001-12-05moved the sequence number fetch into the backend, and fetch theAndrew Tridgell1-1/+56
sequence number via ldap when using ads (This used to be commit 9a084f0bb91883224ad44e2b76417d10c15cce42)
2001-12-05finally worked out how to do ldap lookups by binary blobs, so I canAndrew Tridgell1-10/+114
now do searches on SID. This allows me to do a true ldap sid_to_name() function one one function to go! (This used to be commit 7d44aa3915bc88fd2b2f8454f190b11677cbb848)
2001-12-04added lookup_groups() to the ads backendAndrew Tridgell1-2/+2
winbindd/ADS can now do initgroups() (This used to be commit 43edeaca9f3a42699131939ed0d917111f57b678)
2001-12-04moved lookup_usergroups() into the backend structureAndrew Tridgell1-1/+61
(This used to be commit 689f45d2079d06b09947b2cdd314867df98c938d)
2001-12-04added a query_user backendAndrew Tridgell1-1/+58
fixed a winbindd crash when the group membership can't be looked up (This used to be commit 088f4cc5be4a1a38781e4d019146d53993ed8c6f)
2001-12-03changed query_dispinfo to query_user_listAndrew Tridgell1-5/+5
(This used to be commit 80010d80f93cfb32c53a1720c7564fb080846f35)
2001-12-03put sid_to_name behind the winbindd backend interfaceAndrew Tridgell1-1/+33
I spent quite a while trying to work out how to make this call via ldap and failed. I then found that MS servers seem use rpc for sid_to_name, and it works even when in native mode, I ended up just implementing it via rpc (This used to be commit 789833b44e342c0b5de463ed8f9b5f7474a99f27)
2001-12-03added name_to_sid to the backendAndrew Tridgell1-1/+34
(This used to be commit 816e40a51af80a7f703c0451304de406deab3dd8)
2001-12-03added a basic ADS backend to winbind. More work needed, but atAndrew Tridgell1-10/+10
least basic operations work (This used to be commit 88241cab983b2c7db7d477c6c4654694a7a56cd3)
2001-12-03split winbindd_enum_dom_groups into the new backend structureAndrew Tridgell1-0/+130
also created winbindd_rpc.c which contains the functions that have been converted to the new structure. There will soon be a winbindd_ads.c for the ldap backend (This used to be commit e4ccc602ba65838646f2632120069f3274619dd9)
