2007-11-03Remove most of the remaining globals out of lib/util_sock.c.Jeremy Allison2-4/+4
I have a plan for dealing with the remaining..... Watch this space. Jeremy. (This used to be commit 963fc7685212689f02b3adcc05b4273ee5c382d4)
2007-11-03I can't get away without a 'length' arg. :-).Jeremy Allison2-2/+2

2007-11-03Stop get_peer_addr() and client_addr() from using globalJeremy Allison2-2/+4
statics. Part of my library cleanups. Jeremy. (This used to be commit e848506c858bd16706c1d7f6b4b032005512b8ac)
2007-11-01Patch 2 of 3 from Debian Samba packagers:Gerald (Jerry) Carter1-6/+6
The point is doing the following associations: - non discardable state data (all TDB files that may need to be backed up) go to statedir - shared data (codepage stuff) go to codepagedir The patch *does not change* the default location for these directories. So, there is no behaviour change when applying it. The main change is for samba developers who have to think when dealing with files that previously pertained to libdir whether they: - go in statedir - go in codepagedir - stay in libdir (This used to be commit d6cdbfd875bb2653e831d314726c3240beb0a96b)
2007-10-18RIP BOOL. Convert BOOL -> bool. I found a few interestingJeremy Allison11-109/+109
bugs in various places whilst doing this (places that assumed BOOL == int). I also need to fix the Samba4 pidl generation (next checkin). Jeremy. (This used to be commit f35a266b3cbb3e5fa6a86be60f34fe340a3ca71f)

2007-10-11Add const to the get_peer_addr() and get_socket_addr()Jeremy Allison2-3/+3
calls. Use the IPv6 varient for get_peer_addr(). Jeremy. (This used to be commit baf1f52e34ae2465a7a34be1065da29ed97e7bea)
2007-10-10r25534: Apply some constVolker Lendecke1-4/+4
Why? It moves these structs from the data into the text segment, so they will never been copy-on-write copied. Not much, but as in German you say "Kleinvieh macht auch Mist...." (This used to be commit 0141e64ad4972232de867137064d0dae62da22ee)
2007-10-10r25399: Excise uint - > uint32 (where appropriate) or unsigned int.Jeremy Allison1-1/+1

2007-10-10r25294: Tidy up callers of unistr2_to_ascii() to pass sizeof(target_area) toMichael Adam1-5/+5
the maxeln parameter instead of sizeof(target_area) - 1 (or even sizeof(fstring) - 1 in some places. I hope these were really all there were. Michael (This used to be commit 9a28be220df622322857dfe102fa35e108f932dc)
2007-10-10r25138: More pstring elimination. Add a TALLOC_CTX parameterJeremy Allison1-1/+1
to unix_convert(). Jeremy. (This used to be commit 39c211a702e91c34c1a5a689e1b0c4530ea8a1ac)
2007-10-10r25117: The mega-patch Jerry was waiting for. Remove all pstrings fromJeremy Allison1-5/+6
the main server code paths. We should now be able to cope with paths up to PATH_MAX length now. Final job will be to add the TALLOC_CTX * parameter to unix_convert to make it explicit (for Volker). Jeremy. (This used to be commit 7f0db75fb0f24873577dcb758a2ecee74fdc4297)
2007-10-10r25009: Large patch discussed with Volker. Move unix_convert to a talloc-basedJeremy Allison1-17/+22
interface. More development will come on top of this. Remove the "mangled map" parameter. Jeremy. (This used to be commit dee8beba7a92b8a3f68bbcc59fd0a827f68c7736)

2007-10-10r23724: Reduce access to the global inbuf a tiny bit. Add a struct smb_requestVolker Lendecke1-8/+8
that contains some of the fields from the SMB header, removing the need to access inbuf directly. This right now is used only in the open file code & friends, and creating that header is only done when needed. This needs more work, but it is a start. Jeremy, I'm only checking this into 3_0, please review before I merge it to _26. Volker (This used to be commit ca988f4e79e977160d82e86486972afd15d4acf5)
2007-10-10r23183: Check in a change made by Tridge:Volker Lendecke1-2/+1
This replaces the internal explicit dev/ino file id representation by a "struct file_id". This is necessary as cluster file systems and NFS don't necessarily assign the same device number to the shared file system. With this structure in place we can now easily add different schemes to map a file to a unique 64-bit device node. Jeremy, you might note that I did not change the external interface of smb_share_modes.c. Volker (This used to be commit 9b10dbbd5de8813fc15ebbb6be9b18010ffe8139)
2007-10-10r23168: Move the lp_max_connections() into service.c.Volker Lendecke1-1/+1

2007-10-10r23167: Remove an unused parameterVolker Lendecke1-1/+1
(This used to be commit 3452a870d58cdddf03ddf6ee698bca8416e05cbf)
2007-10-10r23112: Trim down the message.c API slightly: The messages_pending_for_pid ↵Volker Lendecke1-8/+1
is now replaced by MSG_FLAG_LOWPRIORITY or'ed into the msg_type. To enable this, changed the msg_type definitions to hexadecimal. This way we could theoretically add the MSG_FLAG_NODUPLICATES again, but I would rather not do this, because that one is racy and can't be guaranteed at all. (This used to be commit 3f5eb8a9600839a9f9c44c553f0bda6df22b30b0)
2007-10-10r23055: Rewrite messages.c to use auto-generated marshalling in the tdb. I'mVolker Lendecke2-2/+3
doing this because for the clustering the marshalling is needed in more than one place, so I wanted a decent routine to marshall a message_rec struct which was not there before. Tridge, this seems about the same speed as it used to be before, the librpc/ndr overhead in my tests was under the noise. Volker (This used to be commit eaefd00563173dfabb7716c5695ac0a2f7139bb6)
2007-10-10r23023: Get rid of the only caller of message_send_pid_with_timeout(). This ↵Volker Lendecke1-5/+13
replaces the timeouts on the individual message send calls with an overall timeout on all the calls. The timeout in message_send_pid_with_timeout() did not make much sense IMO anyway, because the tdb_fetch() for the messages_pending_for_pid was blocking in a readlock anyway, we "just" did the timeout for the write lock. This new code goes through the full wait for the write lock once and then breaks out of sending the notifies instead of running into the timeout per target. Jerry, please check this! Thanks, Volker (This used to be commit 697099f06e1aa432187f802b9c2632607e3de46e)

2007-10-10r21672: The cannonical file access pattern should look like this :Jeremy Allison1-5/+5

Tidy things up a bit.... Jeremy. (This used to be commit b8327b21ddf518d34c6cd6c01bd7fc0fd3f63c0c)
2007-10-10r21606: Implement escaping function for ldap RDN valuesSimo Sorce1-3/+21
Fix escaping of DN components and filters around the code Add some notes to commandline help messages about how to pass DNs revert jra's "concistency" commit to nsswitch/winbindd_ads.c, as it was incorrect. The 2 functions use DNs in different ways. - lookup_usergroups_member() uses the DN in a search filter, and must use the filter escaping function to escape it Escaping filters that include escaped DNs ("\," becomes "\5c,") is the correct way to do it (tested against W2k3). - lookup_usergroups_memberof() instead uses the DN ultimately as a base dn. Both functions do NOT need any DN escaping function as DNs can't be reliably escaped when in a string form, intead each single RDN value must be escaped separately. DNs coming from other ldap calls (like ads_get_dn()), do not need escaping as they come already escaped on the wire and passed as is by the ldap libraries DN filtering has been tested. For example now it is possible to do something like: 'net ads add user joe#5' as now the '#' character is correctly escaped when building the DN, previously such a call failed with Invalid DN Syntax. Simo. (This used to be commit 5b4838f62ab1a92bfe02626ef40d7f94c2598322)

2007-10-10r21258: Fix for connecting printers from Vista by storingGerald Carter1-9/+78
the printer GUID as a REG_SZ as Vista seems to whine about unknown REG_BINARY values. Thanks to Martin Zielinski <mz@seh.de> for his excellent analysis on this. (This used to be commit fa5490b71b5cd41b63b028aa8a316e1197263083)
2007-10-10r21064: The core of this patch isVolker Lendecke2-4/+7
void message_register(int msg_type, void (*fn)(int msg_type, struct process_id pid, - void *buf, size_t len)) + void *buf, size_t len, + void *private_data), + void *private_data) { struct dispatch_fns *dfn; So this adds a (so far unused) private pointer that is passed from message_register to the message handler. A prerequisite to implement a tiny samba4-API compatible wrapper around our messaging system. That itself is necessary for the Samba4 notify system. Yes, I know, I could import the whole Samba4 messaging system, but I want to do it step by step and I think getting notify in is more important in this step. Volker (This used to be commit c8ae60ed65dcce9660ee39c75488f2838cf9a28b)
