2007-10-10r5197: moved events code to lib/events/ (suggestion from metze)Andrew Tridgell1-1/+1
(This used to be commit 7f54c8a339f36aa43c9340be70ab7f0067593ef2)
2007-10-10r5185: make all the events data structures private to events.c. This willAndrew Tridgell1-0/+1
make it possible to add optimisations to the events code such as keeping the next timed event in a sorted list, and using epoll for file descriptor events. I also removed the loop events code, as it wasn't being used anywhere, and changed timed events to always be one-shot (as adding a new timed event in the event handler is so easy to do if needed) (This used to be commit d7b4b6de51342a65bf46fce772d313f92f8d73d3)
2007-10-10r5037: got rid of all of the TALLOC_DEPRECATED stuff. My apologies for theAndrew Tridgell1-1/+1
large commit. I thought this was worthwhile to get done for consistency. (This used to be commit ec32b22ed5ec224f6324f5e069d15e92e38e15c0)
2007-10-10r4757: added the ability of the clisocket level of libcli to handle asyncAndrew Tridgell1-1/+1
socket connections. This was complicated by a few factors: - it meant moving the event context from clitransport to clisocket, so lots of structures changed - we need to asynchronously handle connection to lists of port numbers, not just one port number. The code internally tries each port in the list in turn, without ever blocking - the man page on how connect() is supposed to work asynchronously doesn't work in practice (now why doesn't this surprise me?). The getsockopt() for SOL_ERROR is supposed to retrieve the error, but in fact the next (unrelated) connect() call on the same socket also gets an error, though not the right error. To work around this I need to tear down the whole socket between each attempted port. I hate posix. Note that clisocket.c still does a blocking name resolution call in smbcli_sock_connect_byname(). That will be fixed when we add the async NBT resolution code. Also note that I arranged things so that every SMB connection is now async internally, so using plain smbclient or smbtorture tests all the async features of this new code. (This used to be commit 468f8ebbfdbdf37c757fdc4863626aa9946a8870)
2007-10-10r4591: - converted the other _p talloc functions to not need _pAndrew Tridgell1-2/+2
- added #if TALLOC_DEPRECATED around the _p functions - fixes the code that broke from the above while doing this I fixed quite a number of places that were incorrectly using the non type-safe talloc functions to use the type safe ones. Some were even doing multiplies for array allocation, which is potentially unsafe. (This used to be commit 6e7754abd0c225527fb38363996a6e241b87b37e)
2007-10-10r4549: got rid of a lot more uses of plain talloc(), instead usingAndrew Tridgell1-1/+1
talloc_size() or talloc_array_p() where appropriate. also fixed a memory leak in pvfs_copy_file() (failed to free a memory context) (This used to be commit 89b74b53546e1570b11b3702f40bee58aed8c503)
2007-10-10r4364: - added support for testing of chained SMB operations in smbtortureAndrew Tridgell1-2/+61
- added test for chained OpenX/ReadX, simulating the OS/2 workplace shell - fixed a bug in handling chained fnum in openx and ntcreatex in the server (yes, I'm on holiday, but this bug was annoying me ....) (This used to be commit b3b8958a18e302b815d98c0e3879e404bced6a08)
2007-10-10r4229: - added support for multi-part SMBtrans and SMBtrans2 requests in theAndrew Tridgell1-5/+10

2007-10-10r2857: this commit gets rid of smb_ucs2_t, wpstring and fpstring, plus lots ↵Andrew Tridgell1-11/+2
of associated functions. The motivation for this change was to avoid having to convert to/from ucs2 strings for so many operations. Doing that was slow, used many static buffers, and was also incorrect as it didn't cope properly with unicode codepoints above 65536 (which could not be represented correctly as smb_ucs2_t chars) The two core functions that allowed this change are next_codepoint() and push_codepoint(). These functions allow you to correctly walk a arbitrary multi-byte string a character at a time without converting the whole string to ucs2. While doing this cleanup I also fixed several ucs2 string handling bugs. See the commit for details. The following code (which counts the number of occuraces of 'c' in a string) shows how to use the new interface: size_t count_chars(const char *s, char c) { size_t count = 0; while (*s) { size_t size; codepoint_t c2 = next_codepoint(s, &size); if (c2 == c) count++; s += size; } return count; } (This used to be commit 814881f0e50019196b3aa9fbe4aeadbb98172040)
2007-10-10r2671: we're getting too many errors caused by the talloc_realloc() API notAndrew Tridgell1-2/+2
taking a context (so when you pass a NULL pointer you end up with memory in a top level context). Fixed it by changing the API to take a context. The context is only used if the pointer you are reallocing is NULL. (This used to be commit 8dc23821c9f54b2f13049b5e608a0cafb81aa540)
2007-10-10r2654: fixed some more server memory leaks. We are now down to a single leakAndrew Tridgell1-1/+1
of 16 bytes, caused by the 16 byte data_blob in the smb_signing code. (This used to be commit 2f1b788e09686e065d22f621f5c0c585192c6740)
2007-10-10r2552: Character set conversion and string handling updates.Andrew Bartlett1-6/+11
The intial motivation for this commit was to merge in some of the bugfixes present in Samba3's chrcnv and string handling code into Samba4. However, along the way I found a lot of unused functions, and decided to do a bit more... The strlen_m code now does not use a fixed buffer, but more work is needed to finish off other functions in str_util.c. These fixed length buffers hav caused very nasty, hard to chase down bugs at some sites. The strupper_m() function has a strupper_talloc() to replace it (we need to go around and fix more uses, but it's a start). Use of these new functions will avoid bugs where the upper or lowercase version of a string is a different length. I have removed the push_*_allocate functions, which are replaced by calls to push_*_talloc. Likewise, pstring and other 'fixed length' wrappers are removed, where possible. I have removed the first ('base pointer') argument, used by push_ucs2, as the Samba4 way of doing things ensures that this is always on an even boundary anyway. (It was used in only one place, in any case). (This used to be commit dfecb0150627b500cb026b8a4932fe87902ca392)
2007-10-10r2443: check return code of event_loop_once() to catch thet cases where the ↵Stefan Metzmacher1-1/+3
server closes the connetion and we got EBADF from select() and event_loop_once() fails metze (This used to be commit 9c0e50a6f3d628156b4543d5ded89e06be696f64)
2007-10-10r2159: converted samba4 over to UTF-16.Andrew Tridgell1-2/+2
I had previously thought this was unnecessary, as windows doesn't use standards compliant UTF-16, and for filesystem operations treats bytes as UCS-2, but Bjoern Jacke has pointed out to me that this means we don't correctly store extended UTF-16 characters as UTF-8 on disk. This can be seen with (for example) the gothic characters with codepoints above 64k. This commit also adds a LOCAL-ICONV torture test that tests the first 1 million codepoints against the system iconv library, and tests 5 million random UTF-16LE buffers for identical error handling to the system iconv library. the lib/iconv.c changes need backporting to samba3 (This used to be commit 756f28ac95feaa84b42402723d5f7286865c78db)
2007-10-10r1984: this change is what you should read to understand the new talloc()Andrew Tridgell1-14/+3
It simplifies our structure handling a lot, making the code shorter and easier to understand. Look at the diff carefully and see if you can understand it. If you're still confused then please ask. (This used to be commit 03c341aca7f09cb1f0d33ec65e074e6a00caa30f)
2007-10-10r1983: a completely new implementation of tallocAndrew Tridgell1-2/+2
This version does the following: 1) talloc_free(), talloc_realloc() and talloc_steal() lose their (redundent) first arguments 2) you can use _any_ talloc pointer as a talloc context to allocate more memory. This allows you to create complex data structures where the top level structure is the logical parent of the next level down, and those are the parents of the level below that. Then destroy either the lot with a single talloc_free() or destroy any sub-part with a talloc_free() of that part 3) you can name any pointer. Use talloc_named() which is just like talloc() but takes the printf style name argument as well as the parent context and the size. The whole thing ends up being a very simple piece of code, although some of the pointer walking gets hairy. So far, I'm just using the new talloc() like the old one. The next step is to actually take advantage of the new interface properly. Expect some new commits soon that simplify some common coding styles in samba4 by using the new talloc(). (This used to be commit e35bb094c52e550b3105dd1638d8d90de71d854f)

2007-10-10r1578: the first stage of the async client rewrite.Andrew Tridgell1-179/+7
Up to now the client code has had an async API, and operated asynchronously at the packet level, but was not truly async in that it assumed that it could always write to the socket and when a partial packet came in that it could block waiting for the rest of the packet. This change makes the SMB client library full async, by adding a separate outgoing packet queue, using non-blocking socket IO and having a input buffer that can fill asynchonously until the full packet has arrived. The main complexity was in dealing with the events structure when using the CIFS proxy backend. In that case the same events structure needs to be used in both the client library and the main smbd server, so that when the client library is waiting for a reply that the main server keeps processing packets. This required some changes in the events library code. Next step is to make the generated rpc client code use these new capabilities. (This used to be commit 96bf4da3edc4d64b0f58ef520269f3b385b8da02)

2007-10-10r873: converted samba4 to use real 64 bit integers instead ofAndrew Tridgell1-7/+3
structures. This was suggested by metze recently. I checked on the build farm and all the machines we have support 64 bit ints, and support the LL suffix for 64 bit constants. I suspect some won't support strtoll() and related functions, so we will probably need replacements for those. (This used to be commit 9a9244a1c66654c12abe4379661cba83a73c4c21)
2007-10-10r335: added much better handling of servers that die unexpectedly during aAndrew Tridgell1-4/+7

I discovered this when testing against Sun's PC-NetLink. cleaned up the naming of some of the samr requests add IDL and test code for samr_QueryGroupMember(), samr_SetMemberAttributesOfGroup() and samr_Shutdown(). (actually, I didn't leave the samr_Shutdown() test in, as its fatal to windows servers due to doing exactly what it says it does). (This used to be commit 925bc2622c105dee4ffff809c6c35cd209a839f8)
